The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) has long been a cultural pillar in our city, bringing together filmmakers, artists, students, and audiences to celebrate the artistry of cinema and the power of storytelling. Each year, SBIFF elevates Santa Barbara’s creative spirit while investing deeply in the next generation of talent.
As a proud board member and sponsor, I am honored to support an organization that gives so much back to our community, culturally, educationally, and economically.
This year’s festival once again recognizes individuals whose artistic contributions have had a lasting impact. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to this year’s honorees, each a testament to the dedication and excellence that SBIFF celebrates.
A major milestone for SBIFF and for Santa Barbara is the grand opening of the McHurley Film Center on February 2. The McHurley Film Center, named in honor of philanthropists Nora McNeely Hurley and Michael Hurley, will serve as a year-round hub for screenings, workshops, lectures, and creative collaboration.
This new space strengthens Santa Barbara’s role as a thriving arts destination and creates expanded opportunities for community engagement.
In celebration of this important addition, I am committed to donating 20 percent of my 2026 real estate commissions to support the McHurley Film Center. This contribution is an investment in education, creativity, and the future of our community.
What sets SBIFF apart is its impact beyond the festival itself. Through year-round programs, SBIFF reaches students of all ages, providing access to film education, mentorship, and hands-on learning. These initiatives help young people explore storytelling, build creative skills, and gain introduction to careers in film and media.
As we look forward to the upcoming festival and the opening of the McHurley Film Center, I am grateful for everyone who supports SBIFF and believes in the power of film, education, and community.
Santa Barbara is a special place because of organizations like SBIFF and the people who rally behind them. I am honored to play a role in supporting this work and excited for what lies ahead.
